About Ken Allison
Native to Illinois, Ken Allison was born in Iroquois County in 1972 and spent his childhood years in Henry County. In 1990, Ken graduated from Rockridge Senior High School in Rock Island County, before starting his military career on his 18th birthday in the United States Air Force. He has been a resident of the 88th Congressional District since 2017. Ken served on active duty from 1990 to 1994 and was stationed in Germany as well as Texas. Upon completion of his initial term of service, Ken returned back to Illinois where he would continue to serve in the Illinois Air National Guard until 2005. During that time, he served two combat deployments to Afghanistan as a Joint Terminal Attack Controller in support of the Global War on Terror. In 2005, Ken moved to the greater Peoria area and transferred into the Illinois Army National Guard serving in multiple locations and positions across the state of Illinois. Initially, Ken served as an infantry squad leader and would later commission as a 2nd Lieutenant ordnance officer. In 2010, Ken was selected for company command and would spend the next two years commanding a newly created maintenance unit headquartered in Chicago. Subsequently, Ken was assigned to the Officer Candidate School in Springfield where he would oversee the training and development of over 1,000 officer candidates. His third and final combat deployment came in 2015 as a Logistics Officer assigned to the Polish military providing critical resources to their mission. Ken ultimately retired in 2018, having earned several awards including the Bronze Star, two Meritorious Service Medals, and several commendation and achievement medals over his 28-year military career. While serving in the military, Ken received his Bachelor of Accounting degree from Western Illinois University in 1999 and started his own public tax and accounting firm in 2011, which he still manages. He worked at Caterpillar from 2016 to 2019, but ultimately chose to focus on acquiring and starting small businesses. He purchased two existing area businesses and started two more. Ken joined the East Peoria Community High School Board in 2019, and has used his businesses to create or host fundraising events for local area not-for-profits such as Moms Who Care and Family House.
